Almost Ready for Submission

We received some good news today.  The document that the US Embassy was asking for has been received by our agency.  Now all that's left is for it to be translated and then it will be ready to be submitted to the US Embassy.

Several have asked us questions about this stage of the process, and I realized I have not explained it well enough.  We are almost done.  The Ethiopian court has declared us as Rogi's parents.  Rogi has a nice new Ethiopian passport he can travel with along with an official birth certificate with us as parents.  All that's left is the US Embassy in Addis.  They need to make sure that Rogi is officially an orphan under US law to give him a visa to be able to come to the US.  Once they have all the paperwork in order, they will schedule an embassy date with us in order to travel over for the visa appointment.  After the visa appointment, Rogi's visa will be issued about 48 hours later and we are free to bring him home at that point.

Where we have been stuck is the paperwork stage.  There have been some minor errors with the paperwork that have needed to be straightened out before we could be cleared to travel.  Our agency has been gathering the documents as the Embassy asks for them.  We are almost ready to have our file reviewed by the Embassy for the 4th time.  If they feel everything is in order, they will clear us to travel hopefully later this month depending on their appointment schedule and how long it takes to get back to us/how busy they are (at times, they've responded in 3 business days and it's been up to 2 weeks if they're busy).

So hopefully we'll be ready to get reviewed again very soon, and that we'll clear once our case is reviewed!

Meanwhile, Rogi continues to work on his sitting!

But sometimes he just likes to chill in the bumbo:
